Ladie's Horticultural Luncheon
Now it is sponsored by the Women's Auxiliary of the Virginia State Horticultural Society and recognized as an official event of the Festival. The luncheon has grown from a small gathering to a springtime celebration enjoyed by 500 women. It has always been one of the most elegant activities of the Festival. The luncheon is held Friday, May 3rd at 10:30 am located at the Best Western Lee-Jackson Restaurant. Tickets may be purchased through the Festival Office or any member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Virginia State Horticultural Society.
Lisa attended the Defense Language Institute and has taught English as a Second Language for several years. She graduated from Eastern Mennonite University. Lisa's life is full of ironies, inconsistencies, and full circles, which work themselves here and there into her fiction. She looks for the best in people, whether those people are real or created. In “Her Safari,” a collection of short stories published in 2011, she brings the reader very flawed yet somehow loveable characters [and, doesn't that describe most of us]. Her first novel, co-written with her oldest daughter Madeline, is currently in the editing process. They hope to agree on a title before they send it to the publisher, she says with a wink. To learn more about Lisa, please visit her website: http://www.lisamikitarian.com. Ticket Cost: $25.00 ea.
