The Music Festival takes place each year in the early AM on the first Friday of the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® at Shenandoah University. The Concert Band Competition and Jazz Ensemble Competition showcase competing school bands from around the region.
Applications must be accompanied by a nonrefundable application fee of $15.00 Applications received without the application fee will be considered incomplete and returned. Payment in U.S. dollars please.
Applications will be processed as they are received. Consideration of applications will be subject to available space in each event.
A Director’s Handbook will be sent to the Director of each accepted band. This Handbook is a complete guide including maps, diagrams, instructions and sample adjudication forms.
The application fee is not refundable. Refunds of the entry fee will be paid in full for cancellations received prior to April 30th. There will be NO REFUND for cancellations received after April 30th.
Sweepstakes Award Information
The band receiving the highest average band score in the Grand Feature Parade, plus their average score in a minimum of two other band competition events, will be the Sweepstakes Award winner. Auxiliary units or individual awards will not be considered.
The Sweepstakes Award winner will receive a trophy, be the Honor Band for next year, and will be featured in next year’s Band Brochure.
