Celebrating 100 Years of Apple Blossom

FRIDAY

MORNING

First check into the George Washington Hotel and get settled in. Once you’re refreshed, head over to the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley. Explore the museum’s special Apple Blossom exhibit and discover the history, traditions, and people behind Winchester’s beloved springtime celebration. Take your time touring the galleries before heading into the heart of the festival.


MIDDAY

Make your way downtown for lunch at one of Old Town Winchester’s many locally owned restaurants. After lunch, wander through the Old Town Midway, browse the shops, and take in the pink and green decorations that fill the city during Apple Blossom season.


AFTERNOON

Head to John Handley High School for the Coronation of Queen Shenandoah, one of the festival’s most cherished traditions. Experience the pageantry and celebration as Winchester crowns its Apple Blossom queen.


EVENING

Find a spot along the Firefighters’ Parade route and watch as fire companies, first responders, marching bands, and colorful entries make their way through Winchester. The parade is a favorite Apple Blossom tradition and a wonderful way to experience the community spirit of the festival.


After the parade, head to John Handley High School for the Apple Blossom Fireworks. Settle in under the evening sky and enjoy the spectacular display as the celebration continues into the night.

SATURDAY

MORNING

Start the day at the Sports Breakfast, where you can enjoy breakfast, sports celebrities, photo opportunities, and soak up the excitement building around one of the biggest days of the festival.


AFTERNOON

Find your spot along the route for the Grand Feature Parade. This is the centerpiece of the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival®, featuring spectacular floats, marching bands, equestrian units, celebrities, festival royalty, and community groups. Come early, settle in, and enjoy the pageantry as the parade makes its way through Winchester.


EVENING

After the parade, take some time to relax and enjoy dinner before heading back out for the Country Music Party. Dance, sing along, and keep the Apple Blossom celebration going with an evening of live country music, Best Boot Contest and festival fun.

SUNDAY

MORNING

Ease into your final morning with a leisurely breakfast in Winchester. Take a final stroll through Old Town, grab a coffee, and enjoy the last signs of Apple Blossom season before heading out for the day.


AFTERNOON

Spend your final afternoon at the Apple Blossom Carnival at Apple Blossom Mall. Enjoy one of the many rides, play a few carnival games, grab a funnel cake or other midway favorite, and soak up the festival atmosphere before heading home.
