Adventure Lovers – Immerse Yourself in the Northern Shenandoah Valley

Friday, April 29

Arrive and check into your accommodations. The Cove Campground offers campsites, cabins, and three mountain spring-fed lakes (one with a sandy beach). Enjoy fishing, boating, and on-site trail access to the nearby Tuscarora Trail. Want rustic but closer to town? Try an interactive farm stay at the Herd’s Inn at Hedgebrook Farm. Guys may want to check out the Stag Luncheon, the festival’s premier “Man” event at Winchester Cold Storage, that takes place today.

EVENING
If you’re staying at The Cove, enjoy dinner over your own campfire, or for a no-frills local experience, head over to the nearby Hayfield Family Restaurant for a country dinner. If you’re at Herd’s Inn, check out IJ Canns, The Butcher Station, or Thai Lotus in Creekside Station. Fans of 80s music will want to attend tonight’s 80’s Dance Party, headlined by The Reagan Years, playing all the hits of the 80s, with special guest DJ UnieQ.
Saturday, April 30

MORNING
Make sure you snag tickets for the Sports Breakfast, which begins at 8am, and features VIP sports celebrities.

AFTERNOON
Hiking on the Tuscarora Trail is a great way to enjoy some Shenandoah Valley vistas and enjoy an uncrowded but beautiful trail system. Make sure to stop by Mountain Trails in Old Town Winchester beforehand to stock up on maps, information, and trail gear. Another option is nearby Seven Bends State Park, which is located along the Shenandoah River and offers water access and eight miles of hiking trails.

EVENING
Check out live entertainment at one of the many restaurants in the Old Town Winchester, catch a show and dinner at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, or try your hand at axe throwing at Chasin’ Axe.
Sunday, May 1

MORNING/AFTERNOON
Nothing compares to seeing the beautiful countryside on horseback. We have several different trail riding opportunities for riders of all skill levels. Check out Bailey’s Walking After Midnight Farm, Magic Mountain Farm, or Rocking S Ranch. Another option is a guided bicycle tour (rental bicycles available) by Element Sports.

Before departing for home, consider ending your visit with a local tradition at Apple Blossom time - a leisurely country drive among the apple orchards. (Your route could include: Cedar Creek Grade, Marlboro Road, Middle Road, and Barley Lane).  View the rows and rows of pink and white blossoms set among the backdrop of the Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains in the distance.
