Madeline Grace Briskey is the daughter of Colleen and Mark Briskey of Winchester, VA. She is the granddaughter of Antoinette Baldwin of Zelienople, PA, Carol and Ron Briskey of Pittsburgh, PA, and the late Colin Baldwin. Madeline is a senior representing Millbrook High School. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the Yearbook committee, serving as editor, and Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA). She received a third-place award in Sports and Entertainment Business Operations at the Virginia State Leadership Conference and was named a 2025 DECA National Qualifier. Madeline is a recipient of a 2025 Student of the Year award and was crowned the 2025 Senior Homecoming Queen. She is an open champion Irish dancer, having placed 9th in the North American Irish Dance Championships. After graduation, Madeline plans to attend the University of Mississippi to pursue a major in journalism.
Festival Announces Selection of Princesses
The selection of Princesses to serve in the Court of Queen Shenandoah XCIX for the 2026 Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® has been announced by festival officials. The princesses include Madeline Grace Briskey, Savannah Lynn Judy, Payton Olivia Smith, Alexandra Corin Van Meter, and Niyah Simone Wright.
Savannah Lynn Judy is the daughter of Josie Moskal Judy of Stephens City, VA, and Jimmy Judy of Middletown, VA. She is the granddaughter of Lynn and Joseph Moskal of Winchester, Ashby and Jamie Judy of Middletown, and the late Bonnie Judy. Savannah is a senior representing Sherando High School. She is a four-year varsity swim team letter recipient, serving as team captain, and a two-year varsity track and field athlete. She is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), serving as co-president, Future Farmers of America (FFA), and is an officer in the National Honor Society. She is a member of Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), the Student Council Association, and serves as vice president for the Class of 2026. She is a recipient of the 2025-2026 Sherando’s Warrior Pride award, 2024-2025 William and Mary Leadership Award, and a consistent academic letter recipient. After graduation, Savannah will attend Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) to pursue a degree in nutrition and dietetics.
Payton Olivia Smith is the daughter of Kimberly Smith of Bunker Hill, WV. She is the granddaughter of Nancy Bryner of Berkeley Springs, WV, and the late Robert Bryner. Payton is a senior representing Musselman High School. She is a member of the Student Council, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Bible Club, and Library Club. She participates in Lady Appleman Basketball and the Spirit Squad. Payton is an ICON Youth Group Leader at Connections Community Church and a volunteer with Unified Special Olympics. After graduation, she plans to attend Blue Ridge Community and Technical College.
Alexandra "Lexy" Corin Van Meter is the daughter of Jessica and Hugh Van Meter of Winchester. She is the granddaughter of Priscilla Smith of Star Tannery, VA, and the late Jack Smith, Valerie Van Meter, and Robert Van Meter. She is a senior representing James Wood High School. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, and Future Business Leaders of America, serving as president. She is on the swim team, a member of the yearbook committee, and is the communications and reporting officer for the Class of 2026. Lexy served as captain for both the varsity outdoor and indoor track and field teams and is a four-year varsity letter and a three-year letter recipient, respectively.
Niyah Simone Wright is the daughter of Kaitlyn and Aaron Wright of Stephens City. She is the granddaughter of Christy Meadows of Winchester, Eugene Polston of Winchester, Felicia Berry of Accokeek, MD, and Ernest Wright of Reston, VA. She is the great-granddaughter of Linda Meadows of Winchester. Niyah is a senior representing John Handley High School. She is a member of Key Club, Women with a Purpose, Style for Change, National Honor Society, and the National Art Honor Society. Niyah will attend the University of Virginia after graduation.
The Princesses will accompany Queen Shenandoah XCIX and her Court to all Festival functions throughout the 99th Festival, scheduled for April 24th to May 3rd, 2026. They will participate in the Coronation Ceremony to be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at John Handley High School. They will attend the Queen's Ball and Dance Party, presented by Insurance Center of Winchester, to celebrate the coronation of Queen Shenandoah XCIX, to be held Friday, May 1st, beginning at 8:30 pm at the Winchester Country Club. They will ride on the Royal Float in the Glo Fiber Grand Feature Parade scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 2, 2026.
