Exceptional Student Athletes from Across the Region will be Honored at the Partlow Insurance Sports Breakfast

Jeremy Luttrell, president of the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival®, is pleased to announce nine student athletes will be recognized for their accomplishments during the Partlow Insurance Sports Breakfast on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 9 a.m. in the Tolley Zone at the James R. Wilkins, Jr. Athletics & Events Center on the campus of Shenandoah University.


Aiden Bell

Aidan Bell - James Wood High School 


James Wood High School senior Aidan Bell has distinguished himself as an exceptional student-athlete and leader, earning recognition for his accomplishments in football, soccer, academics, and service.


Aidan earned three varsity letters in football, serving as the team’s kicker and punter for four years and starting for three. His consistency and performance were key to the team’s success, contributing to back-to-back winning seasons. As a senior, he scored 56 points, converting 50 of 53 extra points and going two for two on field goal attempts, while averaging over 35 yards per punt. His junior season included 45 points, with 30 of 31 extra points and 5 of 6 field goals made. His achievements earned him multiple honors, including Winchester Star First Team All-District Punter, Second Team All-District Kicker, First Team All-Area Punter, Second Team All-Area Kicker, and team Special Teams Player of the Year. He was also named an All-American Multi-Sport Athlete by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.


In soccer, Aidan is a four-year varsity starter and team captain, earning four varsity letters while playing center back and defensive midfielder. His leadership and versatility have been instrumental to the team’s success.


Beyond athletics, Aidan has made a significant impact at James Wood High School through leadership and service. He founded the school’s Ski and Snowboard Club and served as its president for three years. He is also Vice President of the National Honor Society and a four-year member of Key Club.


Academically, Aidan ranks fourth in his class with an impressive 4.46 GPA. He will attend the University of Virginia this fall, where he plans to major in biology and pursue a career in medicine.


Christian Dinges

Christian Dinges – John Handley High School


Christian Dinges, a standout senior at John Handley High School, has concluded an exceptional high school athletic career marked by leadership, achievement, and statewide recognition.


A four-year member of the basketball program and two-year contributor on the football team, Dinges played a pivotal role in leading the Judges to the 2026 Virginia State Basketball Championship. He delivered an outstanding season performance, averaging 19.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.1 steals per game.


His dominant play earned him numerous prestigious honors, including The Winchester Star Boys’ Basketball Player of the Year, Northwestern District Player of the Year, Region 4D Player of the Year, and Class 4 State Player of the Year.


Off the court, Dinges has maintained a solid 3.2 GPA, demonstrating his commitment to academics as well as athletics. He will continue his academic and basketball journey at Fork Union Military Academy, where he has been awarded a full postgraduate scholarship. There, he will further develop his skills and expand his collegiate recruitment opportunities.


Emily Williams

Emily Williams – Shenandoah University


Emily Williams has capped off an exceptional four-year career with Shenandoah University women’s basketball program.


A four-year starter, Williams appeared in and started all 113 games of her collegiate career, playing a key role in the Hornets’ 77 total wins during her tenure. A dominant presence in the frontcourt, she amassed 982 career points and an impressive 878 rebounds.


During the 2026 season, Williams earned All-ODAC Second Team honors and was named ODAC Player of the Week twice, recognizing her consistent excellence and leadership. She also helped guide the Hornets to two ODAC Championship game appearances and two NCAA Tournament berths.


Off the court, Williams excelled academically, maintaining a 3.98 GPA. She plans to pursue a career in education while continuing her studies in Speech Language Pathology.


Emma Martin

Emma Martin – Millbrook High School 


Emma Martin, a senior at Millbrook High School, has put together an exceptional high school career, becoming one of the most accomplished student athletes in the softball program’s history.


A three-year varsity letterwinner and starting pitcher and utility player, Martin has been a driving force behind Millbrook’s success. This past season, she recorded 129 strikeouts with an impressive 1.92 ERA, helping lead the program to its first-ever Class 4 state tournament appearance. Over the course of her high school career, she has totaled 304 strikeouts.


Martin’s performance has earned her numerous accolades throughout her career. As a freshman, she received Second Team At-Large and Honorable Mention First Base All-District honors, along with Second Team First Base All-Area recognition. She followed with a standout sophomore campaign, earning First Team Pitcher All-District, First Team DP/Utility All-Region, First Team DP All-State, and First Team Utility All-Area honors, in addition to Millbrook’s Softball Coaches Award. As a junior, she continued her dominance with First Team Pitcher All-District, First Team Pitcher/DP All-Region, First Team DP All-State, Second Team Pitcher All-State, and First Team Pitcher/DP All-Area honors.


Off the field, Martin has excelled academically, maintaining a 4.1 GPA, while also actively participating in Key Club, National Honor Society (NHS), and DECA.


She has signed a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Millersville University in Pennsylvania, where she will compete in softball at the collegiate level.


Gabriella Koch

Gabriella Koch - Sherando High School


Sherando High School senior Gabriella Koch has distinguished herself as an exceptional student-athlete and leader, earning recognition for her achievements in both academics and athletics.


Gabriella has earned seven varsity letters during her high school career, including four in tennis and three in cross country. As a four-year member of the girls tennis team, she made an immediate impact with an undefeated singles record as a freshman, helping lead her team to the state championship. In her sophomore and junior years, she competed at number two singles and number one doubles, capturing a Region Doubles Championship alongside partner Katie Freilich and advancing to the state team tournament. She is a VHSL Class 4 All-State Doubles champion, a two-time Winchester Star First Team selection, and has earned the Northwestern VHSL All-Academic Award eight times. Gabriella also served as both a junior and senior team captain.


In cross country, Gabriella lettered as a varsity athlete and competed in district and regional meets, while also serving as a senior team captain.


Beyond athletics, Gabriella has demonstrated outstanding leadership and service. She served as Co-President of both the Key Club and Student Council Association, co-founded and led the Christian Service Club, and is an active member of the National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She also contributed as a peer tutor and maintained an all-A academic record throughout high school.


Ranked 14th in her class with a 4.55 GPA, Gabriella will continue her academic journey at Virginia Tech this fall.


Gracie Brown

Gracie Brown - Clarke County High School


Clarke County High School senior Gracie Brown has earned recognition as a standout student-athlete, excelling in both volleyball and swimming while maintaining a strong academic record.


Gracie has earned six varsity letters during her high school career, including four in volleyball and two in swimming. A four-year starter on the varsity volleyball team, she played both middle and right-side hitter, earning Second Team All-Region honors in her sophomore, junior, and senior years, as well as Winchester Star All-Area Second Team recognition in 2024 and 2025. She played a key role in leading her team to back-to-back state semifinal appearances in 2024 and 2025.


In the pool, Gracie has been equally impressive. She captured first place in the Region 2B 100 and 200 freestyle events for two consecutive years and earned Girls 2A Regional Performer of the Year honors for the 2025–2026 season. At the VHSL Class 2A State Meet, she delivered strong performances, including a third-place finish in the 200 freestyle, fourth place in the 100 freestyle, and key contributions as the anchor in both the 200 and 400 freestyle relays, earning additional podium finishes. Her success earned her All-State recognition, Winchester Star All-Area First Team honors, and designation as an Honorable Mention Athlete of the Year. She was also awarded the prestigious Golden Goggles Award for her performance and leadership.


Beyond athletics, Gracie is an International Baccalaureate candidate with a 4.1 GPA. She will attend Penn State University this fall, where she plans to study pre-medicine and pursue her goal of becoming a doctor.


Gavin Hetrick

Gavin Hetrick - Warren County High School


Warren County High School senior Gavin Hetrick has established himself as one of the area’s most accomplished student-athletes, earning recognition for his success in wrestling, baseball, and the classroom.


A four-year standout, Gavin has earned seven varsity letters across wrestling and baseball. On the mat, he compiled an outstanding 145–20 career record, becoming a two-time District Champion and two-time Region Champion. He qualified for the state tournament in all four years of his high school career and earned All-State honors as a four-time state placer, finishing 4th, 4th, 6th, and 3rd.


In addition to his wrestling success, Gavin has been a three-year varsity letterwinner in baseball, contributing to the Wildcats as both an outfielder and pitcher. His versatility and team-first mindset have made him a valuable asset on the field.


Off the mat and field, Gavin has demonstrated consistent academic achievement, maintaining a 3.5 GPA while earning AB Honor Roll recognition throughout high school. He has also been an active member of DECA, developing leadership and business skills that complement his athletic accomplishments.


Gavin will continue his academic and athletic journey this fall at James Madison University, where he plans to major in business.


Josiah Sykes

Josiah Sykes - Skyline High School


Skyline High School senior Josiah Sykes has concluded an extraordinary wrestling career, earning recognition as one of the region’s most accomplished athletes.


Josiah’s high school resume is highlighted by four district championships, four region championships, and two state titles. A three-time state finalist and four-time state medalist, he has consistently performed at an elite level throughout his career.


On the national stage, Josiah made headlines with an impressive 8th-place finish at the prestigious Super 32 tournament in Greensboro, North Carolina. His performance included a victory over nationally ranked opponent Zeno Moore of Lake Highland Prep, helping him earn a No. 13 national ranking in his weight class and placing him among the top 150 recruits in the country.


Josiah also played a key role in leading Skyline High School to back-to-back VHSL Class 3 State Team Championships over the past two seasons, further solidifying his impact on the program.


In the classroom, Josiah has maintained a 3.2 GPA while balancing the demands of high-level athletics. He will continue his academic and wrestling career at the University of Lynchburg this fall.


Zoe Harbin

Zoe Harbin - All Area Private School – Mountain View Christian Academy


Mountain View Christian Academy junior Zoe Harbin is being recognized for her outstanding achievements in athletics, academics, and student leadership.


A dedicated student at Mountain View Christian Academy since kindergarten, Zoe has been a three-sport varsity starter throughout her high school career, competing in volleyball, basketball, and soccer. Her athletic honors include the Coach’s Award for volleyball as a freshman, Volleyball MVP as a sophomore, and the Basketball Sportsmanship Award.


In addition to her success on the court and field, Zoe excels academically, maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA and earning membership in the National Honor Society. She currently serves as President of the Student Government Organization, demonstrating strong leadership among her peers.


Zoe is also actively involved in her school community and beyond, participating in the Pre-Med Club and serving on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic.


Looking ahead, Zoe plans to continue her volleyball career at the collegiate level and is considering several faith-based colleges along the East Coast.
