Dressed in the iconic tuxedo jacket, DEPARTURE lead vocalist, Brian Williams, has an amazing singing voice, flawlessly matching Steve Perry’s vocal range and on-stage movements.

DEPARTURE plays all the hit songs that everyone knows and loves. Their performance is professional and highly engaging for their audience. Everything heard during their performance is live with no pre-recorded tracks used.  Performing over one hundred shows nationally per year, DEPARTURE brings the very best of Journey to audiences of all ages.

Opening for DEPARTURE, is local sensation Raised On Analog.  Raised on Analog combines the talents of a varied group of musicians to provide an entertaining and energetic mix of popular music. Dave hosts a daily show on the Alexa platform on Amazon through his Daily Flash Briefing, “Voice of Personal Leadership,” sharing lessons and strategies on personal leadership he has learned and employs so others can be inspired to utilize their personal leadership skills to become the servant leader we all are meant to be.

Sanderson is a faculty member with Dominique Wilkins, Don Barden, Brittany Tucker and Steve Nedvidek at the Leadership Mindset Series based in Atlanta, GA. Dave knows that a true leader understands that support from others can provide the tools needed to be an even stronger role model. Limited Tickets to Events
The Festival will scale back ticket availability to comply with the Governor’s Forward Virginia Phase 3 requirements and participation limits. Event-goers should expect to follow CDC guidelines and mandates in order to participate in events.  Indoor events will be limited to 50% posted occupancy or 250 people, whichever is less.  Outdoor events will be limited to 1,000 people which includes Festival volunteers, entertainment, vendors, and ticketholders.  Due to the limited number of tickets, the Festival expects most events will sell out quickly.  If you plan to attend specific events, buy your tickets early.

New Online Ticketing System

The Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® will launch a new online ticketing system starting Tuesday, December 1, 2020.  Event tickets can be purchased at www.thebloom.com, by phone, or at Festival Headquarters starting December 1.  With our new system, ticket holders can purchase tickets by one of the following methods:
  • Purchase online and print tickets at home

  • Purchase tickets by phone. Tickets will be printed and mailed or emailed to you

Tickets will include a unique code that will be scanned as ticketholders enter events.  In addition, the Festival will not mail paper Ticket Order Forms.  Instead, past ticketholders will receive a postcard by mail in the coming days with instructions on how to purchase 2021 tickets.

Frederick County Fairgrounds
Major Festival events will be moved to the Frederick County Fairgrounds in 2021.  COVID-19 limitations on indoor spaces require the Festival to resort to outdoor venues for many largescale events.  Future press releases will highlight event details slated to take place at the Frederick County Fairgrounds.

Part Two of the Festival’s What’s New at the 2021 Bloom press release series will be distributed on Friday, November 20, 2020, at 12:00 Noon.

2021 Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® Theme: “Back in Bloom”

11/11/2020

Picture
94th Theme Logo
Winchester, VA – It is impossible to overlook the trials, tribulations, and uncertainties of 2020.  Surely we all wish to forget certain parts of the year that was affected by a worldwide pandemic which caused havoc and raised fear.  Fittingly enough, the 2020 Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® theme “Forever Apple Blossom”  will go down as one of the most appropriate and inspirational messages in Festival history.  It was and continues to be a message of hope that rose above the panic, anxiety, and insecurities that resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic.

With a new year, we are promised a fresh start.  In 2021 the Festival will be “Back in Bloom.”  This uplifting theme will resonate far and wide as we plan out our favorite springtime celebration.  The tradition of Festival themes has become an annual ritual that warrants its own celebration.  The unveiling of the theme and its unique artwork represents the official kickoff for the new Festival and is the foundation for building momentum through the unveiling of newsworthy events and special guest details throughout the winter and early spring months leading up to the start of the Festival.

The 2021 theme artwork was designed once again by the Festival’s Graphic Designer, Erik Zimmerman, of White Spider, Inc.  The theme’s message reflects the challenges of the 93rd Festival, and the Festival will be “Back” in 2021, and we will be ready to “Bloom.”  “I wanted the design to be bright, vibrant, simple, and strong, while focusing on the longstanding tradition of The Bloom,” stated Zimmerman. The swirling shapes making up the blossom is a personal style that Erik has used in other illustrations throughout his career.  The background is a washed overlay on protruding bands of color. The choice of bright pink and green was to create some pop and a feel of excitement. The title was inspired by the secondary applied font and was modified by hand to mimic the swirling style of the overall retro design.

94th Theme Cover
Our 94th Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® will look much different.  Festival fans need to understand that we are working and planning under a new set of rules, and will result in temporary changes for 2021.  Current statewide restrictions on indoor and outdoor gatherings limit the Festival’s ability to plan major events like parades and the Midway in Old Town Winchester.  Largescale indoor events will transition outdoors under multiple tents at the Frederick County Fairgrounds.  The Festival will scale back ticket availability to comply with the Governor’s Forward Virginia Phase 3 requirements and participation limits.  Event-goers should expect to follow CDC guidelines and mandates in order to participate in events.  Specific changes to the Festival schedule will be available in the Festival’s What’s New for 2021 press release series which will be shared with Festival fans and the media in the coming weeks.

Event tickets will go on sale starting December 1, 2020.  Tickets can be purchased in person at Festival Headquarters, by phone at (540) 662-3863, or through our new online ticketing system at www.thebloom.com.  Make plans now to join us on April 23-May 2, 2021 as we get “Back in Bloom.”

Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® Tribute Parade to be Televised and Streamed on Saturday, May 2, 2020 from 1:00-3:00 pm

4/15/2020

Keep the Apple Blossom spirit alive by celebrating in your home and support the Festival during these hard economic times.

WINCHESTER, VA – Just like other local businesses and organizations, the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® is struggling financially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Inclement weather had a devastating impact on Festival finances in 2018 and 2019, and the recent postponement of the 2020 Festival has placed our organization in uncertain times. Regardless of the situation, the Festival and its partners are resilient and stand committed to providing our loyal fans with opportunities to celebrate the arrival of spring and the beautiful apple blossoms – even it if means doing it from home this year.

Join us on Saturday, May 2, 2020, at 1:00 pm, as the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival®, in partnership with Shenandoah University airs a two-hour Tribute Parade showcasing the Festival’s rich history and giving fans an opportunity to help the Festival through an online giving campaign. Supporters are encouraged to keep the Festival spirit alive by hosting a family social distancing parade party at home, decorating your homes in pink and green, dressing up in your best pink and green outfits, sharing your favorite Apple Blossom stories, photos, and videos on social media and inviting family and friends from out of town to tune in to the tribute parade on WDVM TV25 or stream the parade online at thebloom.com.

Each year the Festival and its volunteers rely on ticket sales, sponsorship and merchandise sales to cover costs. The Tribute Parade celebration includes an opportunity to support the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® financially through an online giving campaign. 2020 has proven to be financially disastrous, and we need your support as we make plans for 2021. Each year, the Festival provides a positive economic impact to our local economy and many local charities rely on Festival events to raise funds. These worthy organizations include local church youth groups, scouts, civic clubs and other non-profits. Without your support and generosity, we cannot guarantee future Festivals or the type of springtime celebration that we are normally accustomed to.

You may be asking, what should I expect if I tune in to watch the Tribute Parade on May 2? The Festival has years of parade video and photography along with candid celebrity interviews. Our Tribute Parade will include a mix of old and new footage packaged together that encompasses all things, Apple Blossom.

How do I support the Festival during these hard economic times? We know that many organizations and businesses are hurting financially right now, and they are all deserving of your help. As a Festival that has been around for 93 years, we have touched the lives of millions of festival-goers over the years, and we want to be around at least another 93 years, but we cannot do it without your support. As you consider contributing, think about family and friends who have traveled to our community in the past to celebrate with us and ask them for $10, $20, $50 or $100 towards our cause. Ask your friends to form a team to raise funds for the Festival through our GoBloom account or mail in a tax-deducible contribution to the Festival office at 135 North Cameron Street, Winchester, VA 22601.  All of these options are available, and we appreciate your support and generosity. The top fundraiser will receive a landscape makeover valued at $1,500 just before the next Festival in April 2021 compliments of our friends at C&J Lawn Care and Grand Feature Parade seats and catering for up to 10 friends.

Even if you are unable to contribute towards our on-line giving campaign, we want you to enjoy the Tribute Parade on May 2 in the comfort and safety of your home. In uncertain times like these, we are all seeking normalcy and there’s nothing like celebrating 93 years of family, fun, and tradition that is the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival®.
